Nessun Dorma

We have all heard it – more than once.  “Nessun Dorma.”  Type those words in on Youtube.  You will find several people singing that Italian song.  The title means “No One Sleeps.”  As soon as you hear it you will think, “O, yes.  I have heard that song many times.”  The last word of the song is repeated three times.  In Italian it is vincero.  In English it is “I shall win!”
And, yes, I shall win.  My race is not over.  “I have many miles to go before I sleep,” as said the poet.  There aren’t enough of us around to let us die off so quickly.
The apostle Paul warned that the time would come when professing Christians would not endure sound doctrine, but would turn away their ears from hearing the truth (and their eyes from seeing the truth) and would turn to fables.  (See 2 Timothy 4:1-4).  He told even believers of his own era they needed someone to teach them the very first principles of the oracles of God.  (See Hebrews 5:11-12).  And Paul prophesied that it would only get worse, and worse, and worse. The average “preacher” doesn’t even comprehend the very first principles of God’s revelation to mankind given through His prophets, His Son and His Son’s apostles!
I weep for this country.  I really do.  The Orlando gunman’s record worst shooting in American history will soon be eclipsed by another radical Muslim, and then another, and another one after that.  I know what judgment is when I see it.  I endured it personally myself for thirty years.  We are self destructing and helping mightily to bring about our own judgment.  America doesn’t listen and doesn’t learn.  We are a nation consumed with the desire for entertainment and a thousand other passing interests.  The Bible is a closed book even to most preachers.  They are blind leaders of the blind.   Everybody and his cousin is “called to preach.”  Christianity is splintered into so many bickering, dissenting, differing denominations it is impossible to keep up with how many there really are.  Some “authorities” say dozens.  Some say hundreds.  Look in your yellow pages and, if you live in a city of any size, you will find page after page of various and sundry denominations – each one of them certain they are faithful to the Lord in what they believe and teach and yet each different denomination teaching contradictory doctrines and holding contradictory beliefs!!
I shall go back to bed now and take my rest.  Vincero!
