The Empty Tomb

After Jesus Christ’ crucifixion and burial, the chief priests and Pharisees urged Pilate to make the tomb secure as they feared His disciples would come and steal the body and then claim He had risen from the dead.  (See Matthew 27:62-66).  When Peter entered the tomb “he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass” (See Luke 24:12).  John’s account adds: “Then came Simon Peter following him (John), and went into the sepulchre, and saw the linen clothes lie, and the napkin, that was about His head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself” (See John 20:6-7).  This proved NO ONE stole Jesus’ body, not the other disciples, not His enemies – NO ONE!  If you are going to steal a body, you
wouldn’t strip it naked before departing the tomb with the corpse.  In the reduced light of a flickering torch in a pitch black tomb, you wouldn’t attempt to neatly fold the garments placed on the dead body.  And the napkin wasn’t a dinner napkin!  It was the napkin used with a burial shroud, much larger than a dinner napkin.
And how would these disciples have gotten past the Roman guards in the first place?  And, secondly, how would they have gotten into the sealed tomb that had a large stone rolled in front of the entrance?  Why risk your life to steal a corpse?  And why feel it imperative that the corpse be stolen immediately.  Wait a few days until the Roman guard had been dismissed then steal the corpse, arguing an even greater miracle – that Jesus was resurrected from the dead long after the body had begun to decay!
The arguments of men against the resurrection of Jesus Christ are not faulty arguments.  They are a mere grasping at straws in order to deny the obvious.
As they say in Russia at Easter time, “Jesus is risen, is risen indeed!”

Serial Killers Wanted

The Syrian members of ISIS are nothing more or less than serial killers who have found them a vehicle they can exploit to “do their thing”, which is slaughtering as many innocent, unsuspecting people as possible.  Think of it: an entire nation, as it were, of serial killers.  That’s exactly what they are.  Their numbers are growing because this old world has plenty of potential serial killers who will gladly enlist in ISIS in order to whet their blood thirst and do so without fear of arrest and execution.  You will see more and more recruits joining the Syrian murderers coming from countries far and wide.  The macabre videos of beheadings will draw many such perverted minds to embrace Islam.

As I have stated before, Islam will continue to grow and make inroads around the world in countries long regarded as “Christian” nations.  Those who argue for  bringing more and more Muslim refugees into the United States assure that in time the United States of America will join ranks with many other countries now regarded as Muslim nations.  This is an inevitability and but a fulfillment of Bible prophecy.  Although it might not occur in your lifetime, it will occur.

I am not all that bothered by the fact that Iran appears to be on the brink of producing nuclear weapons, the most troubling thing about an Islamic nuclear power is that one already exists: Pakistan, an Islamic nation that harbored Osama bin Ladin next door to one of its military bases for years!  Pakistan is credited with possessing a hundred nuclear weapons right now.  Where other countries will not use their’s, Pakistan WILL!  I just hope our generation passes from the scene before that day arrives, but you can believe that day is coming sooner or later.

Questions Concerning Islam

A QUESTION:  Would Islamic countries welcome millions of Christians, supplying the same with housing, clothing, food, and a monthly government stipend?

A QUESTION:  Is it reasonable to believe Muslim refugees entering the United States will eventually forsake Islam and become Christians?

A FACT:  Not taking in Syrian refugees and closing our borders isn’t “mean” and “heartless.”  I lock the doors to my house every night.  I don’t lock them because I hate the people outside.  I lock them because I love the people inside.

A FACT:  Five of the wealthiest Muslim countries have taken no Syrian refugees in at all, arguing that doing so would open them to the risk of terrorism.  (Their leaders and citizens are obviously more intelligent than ours).

A FACT:  While our children are being taught to tolerate, even love, the Muslim children.  Muslim children are being taught to hate and trained to kill our children!

A FACT:  Decorated United States Armed Forces veterans receive $1200 per month from the U.S. Government while Muslim refugees are given $1700 per month.

A FACT:  The United States government has the resources to relocate and resettle millions of Muslim refugees, but not enough money to supply our senior citizens with a cost of living increase!

A FACT:  It takes a special kind of lunatic to think that importing thousands of welfare recipients who want to kill us is a good idea.

A FACT:  Only one percent of Muslims are terrorists.  Islam has 1.57 billion adherents.  Do the math: one percent of 1.57 billion is 15.7 million terrorists!

A QUESTION:  Some argue that not all Muslims are heartless killers.  If you had a bowl of M&M’s and only one percent were tainted with a deadly poison, would you eat a handful of them????

Do We Have To Sin?

John says he writes this letter of I John “that you sin NOT” (See I John 2:1).  And goes on to say, “Whosoever abides in Him sins NOT” (See I John 3:6).  This does not mean a believer cannot, or will not sin.  It means a believer need not sin.  The apostle Paul presents this magnificent hope in I Corinthians 10:13 when he dogmatically affirms: “There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man.  But God is faithful, who will not suffer (permit) you to be tempted above that (which) you are able (to bear), but will with the temptation (at that exact moment in time, simultaneously) also make a way to escape (a GOD-made way of escape, hence a PERFECT way of escape) that you may be able to bear it (bear up under the temptation without sinning).”  Paul agrees with John that a believer need not sin.
Then why is Paul, of all people, used as an example to prove that a believer cannot be completely delivered from committing sin in this life?  Again, as with John, it is due to a misunderstanding of what Paul wrote in Romans 7.  In the 7th chapter of Romans, beginning with verse 14, Paul wrote these words: “I am carnal, SOLD UNDER SIN, for that which I do, I allow not: for what I would (or should do) that do I not; but what I hate, that do I….Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me.  For I know that in me, that is in my flesh, dwells no good thing, for to will is present with me, but how to perform that which is good I FIND NOT” (See Romans 7:14-18).
Now do you really think this apostle is saying he doesn’t know how to get the victory over sin, because right before penning those words Paul had urged these Roman believers, “Reckon you also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin?”  (See Romans 6:11).  And again, “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof” (verse 12).  He had just assured them, “Sin shall not have dominion over you” (verse 14).  Does he then turn right around and confess that in his own life he found none of this to be true?  How absurd to even think so!
The KEY to a proper understanding of Paul’s clearly defeatist statements in Romans 7 is what Paul says in the 19th verse of Romans 6: “I speak after the manner of men (spiritually defeated men at that) because of the infirmity (weakness) of YOUR flesh.”  Notice, Paul is not speaking of any weakness in his own flesh, but of the weakness of these Roman believers.  Previously Paul had written the believers at Corinth, “I keep under (control) my body, and bring it into subjection (to the Spirit, thus to Jesus Christ and God’s Word)…”  (See I Corinthians 9:27).  Paul hadn’t lost the victory between the time he wrote the Corinthians and the Roman believers.  In writing, “I speak after the manner of men,” Paul was merely saying, “I am going to put myself in your shoes and address this problem from your viewpoint, your perspective, and show you the way to victory – Jesus Christ!
Putting himself in the place of another in order to address THEIR problem was a tactic used by Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians.  (See I Corinthians 4:6).  It’s the tactic he uses in Romans 7.  Don’t be thrown by his use of the personal pronoun “I”.
Approximately six years before writing the Romans, Paul wrote the Thessalonian believers, “You are witnesses, and God also (God Himself will attest to the truthfulness of what Paul is about to write), how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe” (I Thessalonians 2:10).  Did Paul, and his companions, live holy, just and blameless lives among the Thessalonians while being carnal and sold under sin among the Romans?  Of course not!
Paul told the Galatian believers it pleased God to reveal His Son to them through Paul.  (See Galatians 1:15-16).  Paul exhorted the Corinthians, “Be ye followers of me even as I also am of Christ” (See I Corinthians 11:1).  Also, in his defense to the believers in Galatia, Paul declared dogmatically, “Christ LIVES IN ME!” (See Galatians 2:20).
How could Paul seriously and without hypocrisy exhort the Philippian believers to be “blameless, and harmless, and without rebuke” if he, himself, was ever giving in to the pulls of the flesh? (See Philippians 2:15)
Paul wrote the Corinthians, “I know of nothing against myself” (See I Corinthians 4:4), or, as the New International Version words it, “My conscience is clear.”  Paul knew of NO SIN in his life.  In fact, he wrote that “a bishop (a pastor) must be BLAMELESS, JUST, HOLY” (See Titus 1:7-8).  He wrote similar words to Timothy.  (See I Timothy 3:1-7).  Are we to believe that Paul admitted to the Roman believers that he did not fit these qualifications himself?
Paul exhorted the Thessalonian believers, and by extension you and me, “Abstain from all appearance of evil.  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly (utterly, completely, through-and-through), and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body (the total YOU) be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Faithful is He who calls you (to this continuous walk of holiness), who also WILL DO IT” (See I Thessalonians 5:22-24).
How could Paul be so sure the Living Lord Jesus Christ would bring these believers to such a continued walk of holiness?  He had done it for Paul, THAT’S WHY!  Let Him do it for you, friend.

You Shall Know The Truth

Many, perhaps most, Seventh Day Adventists view Ellen G. White’s book “The Great Controversy” in about the same light as Mormons view the Book of Mormon.  I will be the first to say the Book of Mormon is wholly a book of myths and falsehoods, whereas Ellen G. White’s writings contain much beautiful, as well as beautifully worded truth.  Herbert W. Armstrong’s various books and pamphlets, as well as those of his son Garner Ted, contain much enlightenment – but, likewise, some profound error.
We are living in an era that has been inundated with Bible study literature.  Everybody and their third cousin has written a book, a pamphlet, a tract, produced a video, made a teaching tape, etc.  Some few are excellent wordsmiths, having the ability to write super-effectively.  Some are spell-binding orators and speakers.  I would urge anyone seeking the unvarnished, plain truth of what the Bible says to READ THE BIBLE.  Let God speak to you through His Son, His prophets and apostles.  Ask God to give you enlightenment from their writings primarily.
It is only when one has a very good foundational knowledge of the scriptures that they can quickly discern when error is being presented.
And I mean ALL the scriptures, both Hebrew and Greek scriptures, commonly called the Old and New Testaments.  I have often been perplexed by those who call themselves New Testament Christians, saying they don’t get their doctrine from the Hebrew scriptures.  Have they never considered Paul’s statement to Timothy that “ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God, AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”? (See 2 Timothy 3:16).  And, in verse 15 of that text, Paul speaks of how this grown man Timothy had known the holy scriptures of which he speaks from the time he was a child!  The ONLY scriptures this adult minister could possibly have known many years before were the Hebrew scriptures.  It is the Old Testament to which Paul refers when he says, “ALL scripture is profitable for doctrine!”
The apostle Peter agrees with Paul when he writes: “For the prophecy came not IN OLD TIME (many years previously) by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (See 2 Peter 1:21).  And to whom did these prophets write: “The prophets…prophesied of the grace that should come UNTO YOU
(believers of the Christian era), searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow, unto whom it was revealed that not unto themselves (their own time and generation), but UNTO US THEY DID MINISTER the things which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven, which things the angels desire to look into” (See I Peter 1:10-12).
Notice that Peter says it was the Spirit of Christ in these prophets prompting them to say and write what they did.  Therefore, when you read in these prophets “Thus saith the Lord” you can complete that thought by reading, “Thus saith the Lord Jesus Christ!”  Even if someone were to argue that the “Lord” there means the Father, still the Father and the Son are ever in total harmony with one another, always and ever saying the same thing.
Those who neglect studying diligently the Hebrew scriptures cut themselves off from vast oceans of divine truth and from even really understanding the true doctrines of God’s true church!

Ellen G. White’s Great Error

The main mistake made by Ellen G. White in her attempt to interpret the Book of Revelation and other Bible prophecies was that she thought she was living in the time of the end then.  She tried to fit the prophecies and symbolism to fit the events of her own time and day.

Recently I listened to the entirety of a video on the Two Witnesses spoken of in Revelation 11.  Nowhere at no time did it say in the video that this was a Seventh Day Adventist minister speaking.  It didn’t have to.  As soon as I heard the fanciful interpretation of who the Two Witnesses were, I knew that I was listening to Ellen G. White.

When one has bought into false doctrine, they will hold to that doctrine even when reason, logic and scripture after scripture screams, “that is wrong!”  The Two Witnesses will lie dead in the street in Jerusalem – NOT Paris, France.  The Two Witnesses are two anointed prophets, living human beings, men – NOT the Old and New Testaments (verses 9 and 10 of Revelation 11).  Jesus Christ was not crucified in Paris, France.  Surprise!!  (See verse 8 of Revelation 11).  The Old and New Testaments were not put to death and then had the breath of life put back in them three-and-a-half days later.  Nor did they then stand on their feet causing all who witnessed their being brought back to life to be filled with great fear (verses 7 thru 11).  A loud voice from heaven did NOT call out to the Old and New Testaments to “Come up here,” nor did they then ascend to heaven in a cloud, their enemies witnessing this event (verse 12), nor did Paris, France suffer a great earthquake in that same hour (verse 13).  And I could go on and on and on, dispelling the many errors of Ellen G. White regarding the Two Witnesses of Revelation 11.

.  Spiritual blindness and deception is staggering sometimes.  How can anyone buy into such an obvious distortion of scripture.  The ministers of Ellen G. White know they must defend her interpretation of any and all scriptures as they long ago accepted her as a prophetess and they know that scripture declares that in order to be a true prophet or prophetess one’s prophecies MUST be accurate and right on the money 100% of the time.  Any error whatsoever reveals the supposed prophet or prophetess to be a false prophet regardless of how much truth they have.  Ellen G. White spoke a lot of truth.  She also spoke a lot of error.  Herbert W. Armstrong spoke a lot truth.  He also taught a lot of error.  Billy Graham has spoken a lot of truth.  He has also taught a lot of error.  We humans are prone to err and err greatly.  That is why scripture warns us that we must PROVE all things of a spiritual nature.  Ellen G. White failed to do that and in that failure has led hundreds of thousands into embracing those errors.  May God be merciful to her in that day of judgment when she will answer to her Lord for the errors she taught.  And may God be merciful to the ministers who have presented her to their congregations as a prophetess to be listened to and believed.  I am not saying Ellen G. White was not a redeemed woman.  But redeemed men and women are not infallible.  We can all err and err greatly.

The Dead Snake Handler

Our Greatest Glory

“Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”  Those words were written on a small 3 x 5 index card and held by a small magnet to the door of the Marshall family’s refrigerator.  They were penned by Maria Marshall, the mother, and intended for the eldest of her three sons, who was despondent over having been expelled from school for a rather minor offense.  A short time later Mrs. Marshall was murdered.  Her story was later told in a book entitled “Blind Faith.”  I read that book decades ago.  The murder occurred on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey in 1984.  Though I long ago forgot much of the story, I never forgot the words she penned on that little index card  They are quite scriptural, you know.  Our greatest glory does not lie in our never falling, but in rising every time we fall.  Those words have served me well down through the years.

I put Satan on notice many years ago that he might succeed in knocking me down from time to time, even flat of my back, but I would arise each and every time and get back in the race.

“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy.  When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit  in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.  I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against Him, until He plead my cause, and execute judgment for me.  He will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold His righteousness” (Micah 7:8-9).

How To Communicate With The Spirit World (Part 2)

Little thought is given to the fact that the human mind, however efficient and intelligent it might be, is still finite.  That is, the human mind does have limitations.  Even the mind of a genius has a definite limit to its output, capabilities, creativity, etc.  Many also fail to realize that any given human’s intelligence is vastly restricted by the accumulation of knowledge learned to date.  For instance, not even Michelangelo had the mental ability to invent the television or the cell phone.  These devices could not come into being unless and until someone else had discovered how to harness electricity.  Someone else had to invent the vacuum tube in order for the television set to be invented, and so on, and so on.  You see, even the mind of a genius “borrows” from a host of others, who have preceded him in time and imparted their ingenious ideas to him via their writings, lectures, inventions, etc.  Also, the human mind is limited to understanding that which is of human intelligence or less.  And even then there are restrictions and limitations.  Who knows what goes on in the mind of the dumb looking cow as it stands beside the fence chewing its cud?  What is the silent, ominous appearing shark thinking as it swims ever closer to the apprehensive scuba diver?  You see, man cannot even comprehend the inner workings of lower animal mind.  How much less can he hope to comprehend and understand divine super intelligence – intelligence so profound that it created the human mind!!!  Could Einstein’s six year old grandson comprehend and understand his famous grandfather’s theory of relativity?  Of course not!  Likewise, human beings, even those of us now gifted with the powerful Holy Spirit imparted to our minds, even we are perplexed and mystified by some of our Creator’s inventions, one of them being the communications system He has developed whereby He maintains vital, on-going contact with those physical beings of earth who have surrendered their lives to the leading, guidance and supervision of His Son, Jesus Christ.  God not only can hear, separate and understand prayers uttered simultaneously by millions, if not billions, of humans in hundreds and hundreds of languages and dialects, they don’t even have to be uttered!!!  The prayer can be internalized, merely a thought in the human subject’s mind and our Great God can receive the prayer and understand the same.  And let’s go one step further.  God knows everything there is to know about that prayer long before that human mind even thinks it!  Who doesn’t want a right relationship with a Creator like that who says to His human creation, “Come now, and let us reason together….”

Mind-boggling, ain’t it?  The apostle Paul, in writing the early believers at Corinth, Greece said, “The things of God knows no man, but by the Spirit of God” (I Corinthians 2:11).  He went on to write, “But the natural man (the unconverted man) receives NOT the things (revealed) of (or “by”) the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (I Corinthians 2:14).   To be continued…..
