History’s First World Ruler – Almost

I have yet to come across a Bible expositor, preacher, commentary, etc., that expounds upon what I am about to share with you.  To my mind, what they omit is one of the most mind-boggling revelations given through the prophet Daniel’s pen.  A Bible with marginal entries and notes generally will give the year 603 B.C. as the time of Daniel’s encounter with King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.  Keep in mind the time of these pronouncements Daniel makes in the name of the Most High is 603 B.C..  In the 36th verse of chapter 2 of Daniel’s prophecy he begins to give the interpretation of a dream Nebuchadnezzar had wherein he saw a great image.  First, he relates to him his  dream: “This is the dream, and we (meaning himself and his three Hebrew companions who prayed with him to God that they would be given the interpretation of the dream) will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.  Thou, O king, art a king of kings, for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.  AND WHERESOEVER THE CHILDREN OF MEN DWELL, THE BEASTS OF THE FIELD AND THE FOWLS OF HEAVEN hath He given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler OVER THEM ALL” (verse 36 thru 38).  Did you catch that?  If you have even a passing knowledge of world history, then you know that in 603 B.C., when this promise from the God who cannot lie was made, China, the Koreas, Japan, Australia and many other countries and kingdoms were already heavily populated and ancient kingdoms at that point!  Notice, again, what God PROMISED Nebuchadnezzar: “Wheresoever the children of men dwell (wherever you find humans living), the beasts of the field and the fowls of heaven (wherever you find lands or islands, continents or countries supporting wildlife) hath He (God) given (them ALL) into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler OVER THEM ALL!”   Well, if you missed it at your first reading, don’t feel badly most theologians have missed it, too, and evidently so did Nebuchadnezzar.  God CANNOT lie!  Had Nebuchadnezzar assembled a navy, built the ships, made the effort, His empire could have circled the globe.  America might well today be known as New Babylonia!!!  This revelation is staggering in its implications.  Had this pagan, godless king only believed God and His prophet Daniel, he could have been history’s first world ruler.  He could have had centuries before Christ’s first coming what men like Napoleon and Hitler and others longed for desperately and tried to achieve through war and violent takeover.  But the promise was not made to Hitler or Napoleon or any other.  (I will write more on this topic, because it is one of the most astounding revelations found in all of Holy Writ)……Later

The Hebrew Scriptures – God’s Gold Mine

I feel compelled by the Spirit to add a few more of the apostle’s comments regarding the supreme, overriding value of the Hebrew scriptures, commonly called the “Old Testament.”

.
Romans 15:3-6: “For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written (Paul now quotes from Psalm 69:9), ‘The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.’ FOR WHATSOEVER THINGS WERE WRITTEN BEFORE (by the Hebrew prophets) WERE WRITTEN FOR OUR (the New Covenant church) LEARNING, THAT WE THROUGH THE PATIENCE AND COMFORT OF THE (HEBREW) SCRIPTURES MIGHT HAVE HOPE. Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be likeminded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may WITH ONE MIND AND ONE MOUTH glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
It is not possible for believers to be of “one mind” and of “one mouth” – that is, saying the same thing, teaching the same doctrines, etc., if some believers insist that they will use only the Greek scriptures (the “New” Testament) to formulate their doctrine and beliefs. Those so doing are divisive, walking disorderly and, concerning such believers, Paul writes: “Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned, AND AVOID THEM. For those who are such DO NOT SERVE OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, but their own belly (their own fleshly appetites), and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple” (Romans 16:17-18).
The “simple” meaning those who are ignorant of the Hebrew scriptures, the Old Testament. If one does not have a good, solid understanding of the Hebrew scriptures, he, in Paul’s language – not mine – is simple, easily deceived and led astray. He has no idea what God said through Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, etc., concerning a given doctrine or teaching.

.
And note well how the apostle Paul closes his letter to the Romans: “Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now is made manifest, AND BY THE SCRIPTURES OF THE PROPHETS, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: to God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen” (See Romans 16:25-27).

.
Paul clearly says God in His wisdom chose the Hebrew prophets as His vehicle to make manifest our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – not merely pre-recording the major events of Jesus’ life, e.g., his birth place, the time of his appearing, his sacrificial death, etc., but also the teachings and doctrines of Jesus Christ!

.
In his first letter to the Corinthian believers, Paul says that God’s workings with the fleshly Israelites were recorded to serve as examples for the New Covenant Church of God, “and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come…” (See I Corinthians 10:1-12). How can an assembly of believers be admonished and instructed by the Hebrew scriptures if they keep insisting, “That wasn’t written for us. We don’t get out doctrine from the Hebrew scriptures!”

The Sadducees did not believe in a resurrection, angels, or spirits (See Acts 23:8). How long did it take them to see the truth in these several areas after some of them became converted and members of the early church? Early Jewish converts thought circumcision and other Mosaic customs were still valid YEARS after the founding of the church. (See Acts 15:1-5). Likewise, today, in the true body of Christ, we have members who are embracing gross error unwittingly, confident they have and know the truth in some areas that are in actuality profound error!! They are truly converted – some of them. They really do possess God’s POWERFUL Holy Spirit – some of them, but they are blind to some basic scriptural truths. Remember, Jesus said, “When the Spirit is come He will guide you into ALL truth.” He also said, “Thy Word is truth.” So, if the Spirit is guiding one into all truth, that Spirit-led person will be guided into a hunger and a thirst for ALL THE WORD OF GOD – ALL THE TRUTH! Show me someone who has little interest in the Hebrew scriptures and I will show you someone who is NOT being guided or led by the Holy Spirit – else Jesus Christ didn’t know what He was talking about!

I beseech you, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, THINK ON THESE THINGS!!!

A Promise Made Long Ago

Why don’t these modern-day preachers tell their congregations that “they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham” (See Galatians 3:7)?  And that “they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham” if they, too, are faithful to the Lord.  (See Galatians 3:9).  These words were written by the apostle Paul to GENTILE converts – NOT racial Jews.  Notice how in the 14th verse of Galatians 3 Paul speaks of how “the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ.”  Paul then sums up that chapter, saying, “And if ye be Christ’s (truly converted, truly following Jesus Christ), then are ye Abraham’s seed (descendants), and heirs according to the promise” (the promise made by God to Abraham many centuries before).”  (See verse 29).
And what did the promise of God to Abraham and his descendants include?  DIVINE HEALING!  “i will take sickness away from the midst of thee….The number of thy days I will fulfill” (See Exodus 23:25-26).  God promises to prevent premature death in the faithful descendants of Abraham – WHICH TRUE BELIEVERS ARE, according to Paul!
Why don’t these preachers dust off their Bibles and for a change say what God says???  I have more faith in the words of a used car salesman than I do in what I hear coming from the lips of the average preacher.
In writing to the Gentile converts in Rome, Paul told them that Abraham was “the father of all them that believe, particularly those “who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father, Abraham.”  (See Romans 4:11-12).  He repeats that truth in verses 16 and 17 stating that Abraham “is the father of us all,” and quoting God as telling Abraham, “I have made thee a father of MANY NATIONS” – not just the Jews!
And in Psalm 103, verse 3, we are told that God  not only forgives all our sins, but also heals all our diseases!  But read verse 18.  This promise is made only to those who keep His covenant and to those that remember His commandments to do them!  Satan nullifies this promise by deceiving unsuspecting Christians into believing God’s commandments were “nailed to the cross.”  Hence, there is no commandment against idolatry, adultery or murder anymore, so they think.
I can well see how Jesus Christ could get so disgusted as to take a whip of cords and enter the temple, flailing at the charlatans and frauds gathered there and commanding them to get out and stop making His Father’s house a den of thieves.  I get disgusted, too, listening to some of these sermons delivered by smooth-talking preachers who assure their congregations that God gave us doctors to keep us well and heal us and that the age of miracles is past.  Yet, to Abraham’s descendants, God declares, “I am the Lord that healeth thee” (See Exodus 15:26).  Listening to these phony preachers, you would think that there is a verse in the Bible somewhere that says, “I am the Lord.  Have I not given thee doctors to heal thee and make thee well?”
The word “incurable” is not found in God’s dictionary.  With God ALL things are possible.  Of course many would say, “Well, I know God could cure someone of cancer,” but their lack of faith and obedience will not allow them to go a bit further and say, “And I know God WILL cure cancer.”  Jesus said, “According to YOUR faith be it unto you.”  He tosses the ball back into our court and expects us to exhibit true, living, vital faith in God and His promises.
I just returned from a cemetery where I had marvelous communion with God as I went from grave to grave and straightened and replaced flower arrangements and flags tossed about by yesterday’s storm.  As I did so, I looked at the tombstones, noting the birth and death dates thereon.  My heart was saddened as I noticed that many there interred had lived but a few short decades, yet their tombstones indicated that they were believers.  Satan is good at what he does.   He is without peer.  But, thanks be to God, Jesus Christ is even better at what He does, saying, “I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly,” and He meant in the here and now not just in eternity.
So, folks, you can hold to your beliefs if you want to, but let me assure you of this, I am going to hold to mine.  When we meet again in eternity we can compare notes.

Satan’s Master Stroke of Genius!

Regarding the Hebrew scriptures – that section of the Bible most commonly referred to as the Old Testament – this whole giant fund of basic knowledge is ignored by most believers today!  This whole giant storehouse of basic information critical to a right and proper understanding of almost every single Bible doctrine is actually thought by many to be “done away” in Christ.  Most believers do not realize the total depth of deception, of ignorance, of almost complete total darkness that exists in the minds of many, if not MOST, believers.  Many believers, including their pastors and Bible teachers, are as ignorant of what these prophets say as they are of the Chinese language!!  One of the very first recorded statements made by Jesus Christ is this: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD” (See Matthew 4:4).  Note well, Jesus did NOT say that it was the Jew alone who was to live by every word of God, but man, that is mankind, all born human.

Answer me this: Which of these terms are synonymous:  Old Covenant, New Covenant, Old Testament, New Testament.  The answer?  NONE of the four terms just mentioned are synonymous!  Yet untold numbers of believers, even “preachers”, confuse these terms to their lasting spiritual detriment and harm.

The Old Testament is that portion of God’s Word that begins with the Book of Genesis and ends with the Book of Malachi – 39 books in all.  The Old Covenant is spoken of and described in SOME of these Old Testament books, but the Old Covenant is NOT the Old Testament!  Similarly, the New Covenant is spoken of and described in SOME of the books of the New Testament – those 27 books of the Bible that begin with Matthew’s gospel account and end with the Book of Revelation, but the New Covenant is NOT synonymous with the New Testament.

It is absolutely imperative that a believer understands this, because if a believer confuses these terms Satan will move quickly and energetically to convince him, or her, that the Old Testament has been done away with, abolished, or set aside.  This IS true of the Old Covenant – NOT the Old Testament!  A full three-quarters of God’s INSPIRED Word consists of the Hebrew scriptures, commonly called “the Old Testament.”  The believer who says, “I don’t get my doctrine from the Old Testament” cuts himself off from any real understanding of the Word of God.  How so?  Consider the following.

As I mentioned in the beginning of this article, Jesus, at the very outset of His public ministry, stated quite clearly, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”  (See Matthew 4:4).  This would include ALL of the Hebrew scriptures – scriptures that include the words “THUS SAYS THE LORD” hundreds and hundreds of times.  Some would argue, “But God was only speaking to fleshly Israelites of centuries past when He spoke to and through the ‘Hebrew’ prophets.”  Those who put forth that argument have obviously missed the true import of many plain and clear statements made by our Lord’s apostles as well as the Lord Himself.  Consider the following.

There was an occasion when a group of Sadducees confronted Jesus Christ concerning His teaching about the resurrection of the dead – a doctrine they held to be absolutely ludicrous.  His reply to them was “Do you not therefore err, because YOU KNOW NOT THE SCRIPTURES…you therefore do GREATLY ERR!” (See Mark 12:18-29).  Of course, “the scriptures” to which Jesus referred were the Hebrew scriptures.  But, notice, Jesus warned these men they embraced GREAT ERROR due to the fact they did not know, did not read, comprehend and understand the Hebrew scriptures.  Sadly, He could make the exact same statement to many preachers, ministers, and Bible teachers today, as well as many generations preceding our own.  As difficult as it may be for many “Christian” men and women today to believe, many highly respected Christian theologians of recent time, as well as centuries past, have embraced and taught profound error – that error being accepted as scripture truth by the masses!

POSTCRIPT:

I feel compelled by the Spirit to add a few more of the apostle’s comments regarding the supreme, overriding value of the Hebrew scriptures, commonly called the “Old Testament.”

“All Our Righteous Acts Are As Filthy Rags”

“All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.”  You’ve probably heard a preacher quote that line from the Bible, haven’t you?  Though most will rarely quote from the Hebrew scriptures.  That is one verse many will quote to assure their hearers that there is nothing we can do to “earn” our salvation and thereby unwittingly (I hope) discourage believers from striving for true holy living.  I listened to a preacher on the internet just last night quote that line, not the entire verse, just that line and misapply its’ intended teaching.  Few ever look at the context of that verse to really see what Isaiah was actually teaching in that verse.  Here is that verse in its context:
.
“You meet (fellowship with) him that rejoices and works righteousness, those that remember you in your ways.  Behold, you are angry, for we have sinned.  In those (those sins) THERE IS CONTINUANCE….but we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses (our righteous acts, deeds, etc.) are as filthy rags….and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away (from a holy walk).  And there is none that calls upon thy name, that stirs up himself to take hold of thee, for you have hid your face from us, and have consumed us, because of our iniquities.”  (See Isaiah 64:5-7).
.
LOOK AT THE CONTEXT!  When we continue in our sins, when we cease calling upon God, when we fail to stir ourselves up to a righteous walk and lifestyle THEN any supposed righteous act or apparent good thing we do is looked upon by God as “filthy rags.”
.
In Philippians 2:13, Paul writes, “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to do of His good pleasure.”  When one calls a dedicated, holy living believer’s righteous acts and lifestyle “filthy rags” he is blaspheming God who is working in that believer producing such a righteous lifestyle.  That is rightly dividing and interpreting the Word of God.

God’s More Perfect Way

True Believers Are Truly Different

Many have ASSUMED that when God declared certain animals as unclean and not to be eaten by the Israelites, it was because God knew they were inherently unhealthy and would cause those who consumed them health problems.  Not so fast!  You put God in a very bad light when you make that assumption.  Howso?  It was only the Israelite who was commanded to observe God’s dietary laws – not the world at large.  Turn to Deuteronomy, chapter 14, beginning with verse 1, we read where God tells the Israelites: “Ye are the children of the Lord your God……for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar (special, different) people unto Himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.” (See verses 1 and 2).  And then when declaring certain animals to be unclean, God emphasizes “they are unclean UNTO YOU,” and “it is unclean UNTO YOU, and, again and again, God says these animals are unclean “UNTO YOU!” (See verses 7,8,10 and 19, same chapter).
When God commanded the Israelites, “neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woolen come upon thee,” it wasn’t because this was inherently an unhealthy practice.  It was simply done to declare to the world at large: “These people are different.  They are not like you.  They are my chosen people.” (See Leviticus 19:19).  When a Gentile pulled on woolen socks and then donned linen underclothing or outerwear, He wasn’t being ungodly or risking some odd ailment.  But an Israelite was being disobedient to God when doing so, because God had declared the Israelites should not mix and mingle such garments.  And the SOLE reason for the practice?  It was saying to the world, “Yes, we are different!  We are followers of Jehovah alone!”  When God told the Israelites, “Ye shall not round the corners of your heads (trim your hair short), neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard (trim their beards),” there was but one reason and one reason only for such a practice.  Again, it was to tell the world, “We are different!” (See Leviticus 19:27).  God could care less if the Assyrians or Babylonians trimmed their beards, wore Mohawk haircuts, or sported robes woven from both linen and woolen yarn and thread.  They weren’t doing anything ungodly or unhealthy if they did so.  But when it came to the keeping of God’s holy Sabbath God said, “But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.  In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, NOR THY STRANGER THAT IS WITHIN THY GATES; THAT THY MANSERVANT AND THY MAIDSERVANT MAY REST AS WELL AS THOU” (See Deuteronomy 5:14).  God’s moral law applied to all, not so with the dietary laws and laws separating the Israelites as God’s own special nation and people.  People who eat pork products and seafoods forbidden to the Israelites live as long and as healthy lives as anyone else.  Again, consider the hog farmers who eat pork products about every day of their lives, in many instances every day.  They live into their seventies, eighties and nineties just like the vegetarians.

A World Empire Is Now Forming

At its greatest extent, the ancient Greek Empire under Alexander the Great (circa 323 B.C.) included the modern-day territories of Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, northern Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon and Syria, as well as other neighboring territories.  (You might notice that all of the nations named above are totally, or almost totally Muslim save for the one nation of Israel.  Keep that in mind as you read what follows:
.
I now begin quoting solely from the prophetic Book of Daniel: “He (God) gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.  He reveals deep and secret things” (Daniel 2:21-22).  “There is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known…what will be in the latter days (our time and beyond)” (verse 28, Daniel 2).  “The Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses” (Daniel 4:25).  “But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever” (Daniel 7:18).
.
In the 2nd chapter of Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had a dream in which he saw “a great image.”  This image took the form of a man, but its form was awesome.  Daniel, in giving the interpretation of what the image signified told King Nebuchadnezzar that “after you shall arise another kingdom (the Medo-Persian Empire) inferior to yours, then another, a third kingdom of bronze, WHICH SHALL RULE OVER ALL THE EARTH.” (See verse 39).  Daniel then mentions a fourth, and final, kingdom, an empire most all Bible scholars agree is the Roman Empire.  But note well, it is THE THIRD KINGDOM OR EMPIRE that is prophesied to RULE OVER ALL THE EARTH.  The third empire, the empire that followed the Medo-Persian Empire and preceded the Roman Empire was the Greek Empire.  The ancient Greek Empire did NOT rule over all the earth THEN, but scripture MUST be fulfilled!
.
Do not confuse the ancient Greek Empire with the modern nation of Greece.  The ancient Greek Empire was comprised of nations that today are either wholly or partially Muslim.  It is Islam that is prophesied to yet rule over ALL the earth, yes, the entire world.  It probably won’t occur in your lifetime, nor in the lifetime of the next generation, but, if God’s Word is true, it will come to pass, and woe be to that generation that lives to see it happen for their hearts will fail them for fear in seeing what is coming on this earth.
.
Oh, one other thing.  Don’t look for Jesus Christ to return soon or even in your own lifetime.  Contrary to popular religious opinion, much prophecy must yet be fulfilled before He can return.
.
“Now we beseech you, brethren, by (or concerning) the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him (our “rapture”) that you be not soon shaken in mind (mentally distressed), or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us (apostles), as that day of Christ is at hand.  LET NO MAN DECEIVE YOU BY ANY MEANS, for that day shall not come except 1) there coming a falling away first (from Christianity to Islam), and 2) that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he as God SITS IN THE TEMPLE OF GOD, showing himself that HE is God” (See 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4).
.
God’s temple hasn’t even been rebuilt yet, friend.  There must first be a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem for this world accepted deceiver to sit in before Jesus can return.  That’s WHY no one knows the day or hour of Christ’s return as no one knows WHEN that temple will be rebuilt.  But when that event occurs, the Christians alive on the earth at THAT time will know “His coming is nigh, even at the doors.”
